As a native of Los Angeles my food journey began there. While growing up I was surrounded by many cultures and came to appreciate how food had importance within all of them. In my adulthood, I had the opportunity to travel to many nations and to learn in a nontraditional setting from grandmothers, fruit and fish markets workers, co-workers, and others. Their joy of teaching an American girl their cultural dishes continues to make an impact in my life.
When I returned to the States I wanted to continue the correlation of culture and foods. I graduated from Utah State in Liberal Arts and received my Culinary Arts certificate from Bridgerland Applied Technology College.
My hope of understanding foods and culture is to bring people together and learn from one another even if we differ vastly. We can appreciate the necessity and enjoyment that food can bring to all.
